This painting is reflection of my dreams. I often look above my head and admire stars, planets and all those sparkling tiny spots. Same as I wonder about the night sky I also wonder about Ocean, although I do have great respects to the Ocean and I was and I am very respectful to its power and dangers. Oceans beauty came to me at later stage, when I moved to Coffs Harbour, which inspired me in some of my artwork as I had chance to explore little bit more of Ocean life, nevertheless although I was aware of its beauty, my respects for the “great drop” stayed the same.
In my dream I was swimming in the deep blue water, my dream brought me fear at first as there was no land to stand on, nothing to hang on to and although the “big blue” is amazing it was truly scary. Suddenly a dolphin came to me and guided me to the underwater gardens, which amazed me. Anemones, sea bed, coral as flowers and little fish all around me, blue waters did not appear deep anymore and I could enjoy the beauty around me. I was surprised how amazing life is hidden bellow the scary waves and what diversity, beauty and resources are being preserved, many of which were important source to our Ancestors along the coastlines.
Then with sudden move all went dark, somehow I was not scared as the dolphin still accompanied me. It was night. All changed, phosphorescent corals and anemones were emerging and then I stumbled upon “Shell way” that reflected our Milky Way, build from thousands and thousand glittering shell pieces and sand seeds. It was then, when I realized that our world is made from many smaller worlds which need our protection and that Spirits of creatures living in those worlds may not affect us in very direct way, yet they were part of our worlds and we have to listen to them as well, as we are custodians not only of the land we stand on, but also of the land bellow water surface and with the same passion we have to guard and care for it as we are connected to it.
In order to Honor this need and connection I decided to reflect my dream and thank to the Spirit of dolphin who was so kind to guide me through my dream……….
