My paintings revolve around female as a form of ‘Adi Shakti’. This spiritual energy is at times conceived of as a universal life force running within and between all things.Amongst all the forces of maithuni samsara or the world born of copulation, according to the Puranas, the mother occupies the prime position of creative as well as sustaining force, hence divine. She as ‘Mother Goddess’ or the ‘Divine Mother’ is the life force prevailing all around. She is ‘Prakriti’, symbolic of fertility, progress, growth, prosperity, flow of life and essence of life. Here ‘Purna Kumbha’(Purna- full & Kumbha- pitcher) is
associated with the Divine Mother. It is the bestowal of good fortune, fertility, growth, flow of life. I also see it as a symbol of female womb (because of its round shape and capacity to carry life i.e. water as life force), as life giving and life bearing. Lotus bud springing out from it symbolizes ‘Tree of Life’.The Fish (matsya) here is symbolic of the rivers Ganges and Yamuna & also represent good fortune in general.
