Artist S.G.Graff loves to use rigid canvas panel when working with palette knife because the surface can take his punishment without compromise. "Cranberry Hill" is entirely a palette knife painting; bold horizontal swipes of brilliant acrylic color across the surface result in an expressive landscape with a lot of contrast and depth. Here, as in many other paintings, the Artist chooses to represent various natural elements in an 'un-natural' color hue, such as the yellow of the sky...and the pink (with a touch of ultramarine) of the foreground rocky hillside. Key colors include: Aqua Green, Ultramarine Blue, Permanent Magenta, and Cadmium Yellow.
