I painted this composition from a photograph and wanted to do a figurative piece in a very loose, impressionistic style. I have had a very difficult time photograhing the painting...it never seems to capture everything correctly. Having recently received a comment here that the face "lacks structure" I can see where that came from. Details in the face on the painting are not showing up in the jpg. I guess this is one reason why most people buy a painting only after seeing it in person.
