Representative of a type of mask that is made by the Guro tribal society in the Ivory Coast in West Africa. Typically these masks are carved from wood but I sculpted this mask with a sculpting compound that I make. The mask that I have made has the hardness, density and similar weight that it would have had it been carved from wood. I created a wood grain texture on the surface of the mask and I hand-painted the mask with acrylics. This is a large mask. Size: 34in. long and 14 in. wide. It is available for purchase.
