Lee Alston/ L.A. Creations Art Bio 2010

I started painting in the year 2000 as a way to speak to the masses after several events in my life left me felling as though words were not strong enough to convey my thoughts and feelings. I have previously worked in the mental health, correctional field and as a preschool teacher for 11 years with ages 5 and up. During that time I began drawing and painting a lot with the people under my care in an effort to find a way to communicate and create a positive outlet. I have seen a lot in that field some good things and some bad; these events that I have been a part of have had a very big affect on me personally as a person and an artist.

When I first started painting it was strictly about me and I painted with only my vision in mind, but over the years I have been commissioned to paint works of art for people that have had different visions in mind with respect to my style. This has helped me broaden my views and open my mind more to using different mediums to create and express myself.

About my art…Each work of art is hand painted, photographed and then prints are made. I am a self taught artist, so I decided in 2001 that I wanted total control over every aspect of my art. So I began teaching myself graphic design with the help of some very cool friends I was able to learn how to create my logo, business cards posters and prints of my art. Then I went onto learn web design, which helped immensely while developing my website with the help of a very good friend. I also have a professional printer and a professional framing and matting crew that I have worked along side with since 2000.

My art is created with and care and each and every brush stroke is thought out and planned for the most part. There is a reason for every painting, most of the reasons are not hidden and can be seen and understood by the viewer. Although some of my paintings may look basic, there is a serious underlying message behind most of them that people of all ages seem to relate to.

THANK YOU…Without you in my life I would not have a need to create, so I must thank each and everyone that has helped to contribute to my development as an artist.
