Art has been my life and my truest passion since I was old enough to draw, paint or create in any fashion. Ever since childhood I have felt that there could be no other existence for me and it has always been my dream and my goal to be some small part of the art world. There can be no doubt that my heart dwells in the visionary perceptions of the world and all worlds yet unseen. The inspirations for my work come mainly from the world of dreams, from the beliefs of the ancient Celts, and of the energies of nature and of night. I have always been aware of and rather predisposed to the nocturnal world and the darker elements of life and of nature as well as a fascination with the bizarre and the obscure. In my dreams and visions there always lies something deeper then the image itsself, something beyond the superficial vale of colors and form offering a glimpse into another realm or perhaps simply somewhere deeper within myself that even I am unable to venture.
For me the visual arts are not as superficial as a 'pretty picture' although at times that aspect too can be breathtaking. Art, in its many forms, is the visual representation of the unseen or the impossible, offering endless possibilities, not only to illustrate a story or provide an outlet for personal abstract ideas and emotions but also to bring the intangible into existence. Through art the infinite worlds of dreams and imagination become real, images of the world and interpretations of events may be preserved so that they may exist long after that single fleeting moment has since vanished as well as to bring forth the smallest details of the world which so often go over looked to offer dazzling new facets for those who have not before had the luxury to notice them. The subjects and ideas along with the mediums through which they are portrayed are as vast and diverse as the collective human race. Though among its many incarnations art is not always a thing of beauty it is also a valuable outlet to illustrate the uglier aspects of humanity and harsh realities of the way of the world.
My career began at the age of twelve when I was hired to design a logo for a dance studio. From there I entered art exhibits and competitions and for many years I participated in the annual science fiction, fantasy and Anime conventions in Atlanta, Georgia including Dragon*Con, Sci-fi Summer, and Anime Weekend, as well as being the featured artist at The Coffee Shop of Horrors for three consecutive months along with being part of 'Eight Visions of the Feminine Spirit' an invitation-only charity event featuring visual and performing artists presented by Celestial Studios, inc.. I have also worked on many personal commissions and projects including creature concept designs and other logo and character designs.
Prismacolor brand coloured pencils are my medium of choice but I also frequently work with soft pastels, art markers, charcoal, and graphite, as well as with inks both by brush and with the use of technical pens and any combination of these. The manner in which I tend to use my mediums, particularity the coloured pencils and inks are far more akin to paintings or even two-dimensional sculptures then they are drawings. I have also dabbled in acrylic and watercolour painting, sculpting, chainmail design and construction, mask making, writing, and designing and sewing clothing, costumes and corsetry.
